The Power of Portion Control: How a Simple Change Led to Big Results

In my last post about reclaiming my abs, I discussed how hydration was a crucial part of my journey. I highlighted some benefits of water, staying healthy, and building muscles. Today, I want to share another accidental discovery that made a significant impact on my progress.



A Little Story: The Plate Experiment

I typically eat from large dinner plates, which I tend to fill up generously. Despite increasing my water intake and reducing portion sizes slightly, I never had a major issue with my eating quantities. But one day, all the large dinner plates were in the dishwasher, leaving me with only smaller, medium-sized plates.

I reluctantly used the smaller plate, knowing I'd probably go back for seconds. After eating, I got caught up in a group text conversation and sat texting for about 10-15 minutes. By the time I finished, I got up to get more food, only to realize I felt full. How could this be? How could I feel full from a smaller portion?


The Experiment

As a true scientist, I decided to test this consciously. I started using the smaller plate regularly and waited 10-15 minutes after eating to see if I really needed seconds. The results were surprising and encouraging.


Why This Worked

1. Visual Satisfaction: Using a smaller plate tricked my brain into thinking I had a full meal.

2. Time for Satiety: Waiting 10-15 minutes gave my body enough time to register fullness.

3. Reduced Overeating: This simple change helped me avoid unnecessary extra portions.
