As I delved deeper into the world of weightlifting, I became fully immersed in the gym culture. Some might even say I had become a gym rat, spending countless hours honing my strength and size. After months of dedicated effort, I finally achieved a significant milestone: the coveted 225-pound bench press. For many lifters, myself included, reaching this weight is a monumental accomplishment. It symbolizes mastery of the three major compound lifts—bench press, squats, and deadlifts—and serves as a badge of honor in the lifting community.
But let me be clear: while these milestones are celebrated, they are not the be-all and end-all of fitness success. They are simply markers along the journey, not strict rules to adhere to. It's essential to acknowledge and appreciate your progress, but never to the detriment of your overall well-being.
